FAQs
The contest is open to legal residents of Canada who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Participants must be the owner or primary caregiver of the pet being submitted.
Currently, only domestic cats and dogs may be entered into the contest.
Upload a photo of your cat or dog and complete the entry form with your contact details and a short description of your pet. After submission, BMO reviews the entry. If approved, the pet will appear in the Pet Stars gallery and you will receive a confirmation email. If rejected, the pet will not appear in the gallery and you will receive an email notification.
Participants may submit an entry for more than one pet. Each pet is eligible for one entry only during the contest period. Duplicate, incomplete, or multiple entries submitted for the same pet may be disqualified or removed at the sole discretion of BMO Insurance Solutions Inc.
Visitors can vote for each pet once per day, and may support multiple pets on the same day. Voting resets daily at 12:00 AM EST, giving every pet a new opportunity to collect votes.
Absolutely! Sharing your pet's page and encouraging votes is allowed and encouraged. However, any attempts to manipulate the voting process using automated tools or fraudulent activity may result in disqualification.
The contest runs from April 27, 2026, to July 27, 2026. Monthly Featured Winners: each month, one pet will be selected in each category—Best Personality, Best Dressed, and Most Adventurous—by a BMO judging panel. The judging panel consists of a small group of BMO Insurance Solutions Inc.-appointed reviewers who assess entries based on criteria such as creativity, originality, and how well the submission fits the category theme. Winners are notified via email and featured on the homepage with a badge. A pet may only win one monthly category during the contest period; however, monthly winners remain eligible to compete for the ultimate prize. Ultimate Winner: at the end of the contest, the pet with the most valid votes will be selected as the ultimate winner and become the face of the BMO Pet Insurance upcoming campaign, subject to verification.
The ultimate winning pet and owner will receive a professional studio photoshoot, a campaign featuring the pet, and participation in a BMO Pet Insurance promotional campaign. The prize has no cash value.
Monthly winners are celebrated on the homepage and receive a badge. They do not replace the ultimate winner, who is chosen based on overall votes at the end of the contest period.
Winners will be contacted via the email address provided during submission.
