Upload a photo of your cat or dog and tell us a little about them. Share their name, personality, and what makes them special. Once approved, your pet will appear in the Pet Stars gallery.

Discovered
Your pet will be featured on BMOPetStars.ca, where visitors can browse and discover pets from across Canada. Votes will appear on each pet's photo so you can track their progress.

Daily Votes
Friends, family, and fellow pet lovers can vote for each pet once per day for the duration of the contest. Voting resets every day at 12:00 AM EST, giving every pet a fresh opportunity to rise to the top.

The pet with the most eligible votes at the end of the contest will be crowned the ultimate winner and become the face of the upcoming BMO Pet Insurance campaign. Plus, each month, our judging panel hand-selects one winner per category—Best Personality, Best Dressed, and Most Adventurous—giving your pet even more chances to win.

The BMO Pet Stars Contest is open to legal residents of Canada who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. The contest begins on April 27, 2026, at 12:00 AM EST and ends on July 27, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST.

Participants may submit one entry per pet, and entries are limited to domestic cats and dogs only. No purchase is necessary. All submissions must include an original photo owned by the entrant and a completed entry form. Entries are reviewed and approved by BMO Insurance Solutions Inc. before appearing in the contest gallery:

Visitors may vote for each pet once per day, with voting resetting daily at 12:00 AM EST. The odds of winning the Ultimate Winner prize depend on the number of votes received. Attempts to manipulate voting, including automated tools or fraudulent activity, will result in disqualification and removal of votes or entries at the discretion of BMO Insurance Solutions Inc.

At the end of the contest period:

Ultimate Winner: Pet with the highest number of valid votes becomes the face of our upcoming campaign subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with contest rules. In the event of a tie, BMO Insurance Solutions Inc. will determine the winner using additional criteria such as originality, personality, and story. The winner will need to correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question and sign eligibility and publicity release documents.
Monthly Featured Winners: Each month, one pet will be selected in each category, Best Personality, Best Dressed, and Most Adventurous, by a BMO judging panel. Winners are notified via email and featured on the homepage with a badge.

By entering, participants grant BMO Insurance Solutions Inc. a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted photos, pet names, and related content for promotional and marketing purposes related to the contest and BMO Pet Insurance.

By entering the contest, participants agree to BMO and its agents' use of their full name, email address, and eligibility information (Personal Information) collected for the purpose of contest administration, prize fulfilment and communication with participants, in accordance with BMO's Privacy Code at bmo.com/privacy. Participation in the contest constitutes full acceptance of these rules and any additional terms outlined in the Official Contest Rules.

BMO Insurance Solutions Inc. reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the contest due to technical issues, fraud, or circumstances beyond its control. Personal information collected is used for contest administration in accordance with BMO privacy policies.
